Colors come out to play
Climbed all the way out into the river and deliberately got my feet all wet for this one. Not even that wow but I felt given the effort I had to post it anyway. Promise it's the last polarized river you'll get for a while. On the sleeper train home again, back to work tomorrow.
In the summer the river's low enough to get almost underneath the falls. Still ended up with one wet foot though..

This is what a road looks like after you fill it's valley with a reservoir for a hydro scheme. Never seen it this dry in my life.

Favorite from today. Taken at the start of the walk up the back of Redcastle this evening. More trails tracks and all things good.

I'd say this was the most photogenic chapel in Faro's cathedral. Fisheye coming into it's own again, with a touch of #skrwt lens correction. Nice to have a better rig than many of the the SLR tourists for this type of subject.

Wanted to take a picture of the inside of Christ Church again today but this is St Mary's Church Battersea instead. Christ Church is closed until the 8th.
Leaving all this behind tonight. Back to London on the sleeper and back to work tomorrow morning. Already planning my next Scotland trips; I'll miss it.
Prior to the haunted camping trips, we used to cycle our bikes down through the wood to this other abandoned house. It's in far better condition & seems a shame no one's managed to take it on.
Aged about thirteen, we used to go on camping expeditions to this little abandoned cottage. Found it more eerie going alone today than I did then. Used the fisheye for this one, then corrected for the bulge in Photoshop. There was a tree in the way so I had to take it quite close up.
Last night was my second last night at home so, keen to get a picture of some nice star trails, I was out late again - this time armed with dad's tripod too. I pointed the camera approximately north so Polaris would be in the shot and left it running for 30 minutes. It was a lovely night but hanging around in the cold gets boring fast. There were a lot more clouds than I'd have liked but with some clever photoshop blending I managed to get the trails singled out ok against the sky. This is based on 120 exposures at ISO 200.
The #shotonmoment telephoto is pretty useful in getting a little closer into landscapes like this but the fringing is a bit annoying. It can be sharpened out a little but it basically needs to be cropped off.
I'm finding no end of uses for the fisheye lens - forests being the latest frontier.

This is my last photo from my Budapest trip for #euroku2017. It's been over a month since I left and I've come to realise that holding out this long past the date of taking photos is cheating at my own game - where the game is to take more photos and post one each day of 2017. I've taken lots of photos since returning from Budapest and I'm going to post them throughout November to bring my feed into the present. In December I'm going to trial my 2018 challenge early of taking at least one photo per day and posting it. This is going to be hard for holidays but I might post multiple times or use Instagram multi-image 'posts' to get around the issue. There have been multiple cases this year where I've wanted to post a photo nearer the date it was taken - the U2 concert this summer was most frustrating - and I think it's time I made the feed closer to 'real-time'. I'm making this change after upgrading to a #Pixel2 and buying some #shotonmoment lenses. I thought I'd take my digital compact everywhere with me but the reality was that I didn't. Someone also asked if I'd moved to Budapest - I haven't - but the comment got me thinking!
